About FormCost
FormCost is an independent, free reference for US LLC formation costs and small-business fees. We help you answer one practical question before you file: "what does an LLC actually cost in my state — to start, and to keep?" What an LLC really costs in every US state — filing fees and annual fees, 2026.
What we do
For all 51 US jurisdictions (50 states + the District of Columbia) we publish the LLC state filing fee, the recurring annual or biennial report fee (and franchise taxes), and the notable rules behind them. We also build calculators that estimate your total first-year formation cost and the self-employment tax you could save with an S-corp election. Every figure shows the source and links you to the state agency to verify.
How we work
The fee figures live in a single versioned dataset (currently version 2026.1, last updated 2026-06-14). We start from a reputable consolidated LLC-fees table and cross-check the notable states against the state's Secretary of State or equivalent business filing agency. The calculators run entirely in your browser — we do not collect or store your inputs. See our methodology for the exact sources, formulas and limitations.
Important: estimates, not advice
FormCost provides simplified estimates for general education. We are not attorneys, accountants or formation agents, and nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice. State fees change, and our figures may lag a recent update — always verify with the state agency and consult a qualified professional before forming an entity or making a tax election. See our disclaimer.
